Biography of Simon Beresford-Wylie

Simon is a results-oriented business leader with a passion for the industry, the customer and execution excellence. He has built a reputation as a strong leader, people manager and communicator. He holds the Nokia Siemens Networks values dearly and is committed to steering the company and its people towards the goal of becoming the world’s most visionary and customer-dedicated enabler of communications services.

Before becoming CEO of Nokia Siemens Networks, Simon was Executive Vice President and General Manager for Networks, Nokia. Simon joined Nokia in 1998 and held several positions in Asia and Europe before his appointment to head Nokia’s infrastructure business group in February 2005. Before joining Nokia, Simon was Chief Executive Officer of Indian mobile operator Modi Telstra (Pte. Ltd.), a joint venture between Australia’s Telstra Corporation and Modicorp of India. As CEO, Simon oversaw the successful start-up of one of India’s first GSM operators. Prior to that, Simon held various management positions within Telstra’s Corporate and Government Business Unit. Before entering the private sector, Simon worked for Australian government agencies responsible for taxation and for industry policy.

He holds degrees in economic geography and history from the Australian National University, and is a graduate of the Executive Development Program of Stanford University/National University of Singapore.

Simon was born on May 18, 1958 in the United Kingdom. He is a dual UK-Australian citizen, is married and has two children. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, philately and collecting art and antiques.
