1. What is Catalogs?

Think of Catalogs like a mobile digital version of a regular catalog you might receive in the mail. From the catalog you can find, preview and buy a wide variety of content, applications and services from a range of different providers. The catalog itself doesn't cost anything to look at, but if you want to buy something, you may have to pay for that item. Note: Some content items are free of charge, so you only have to pay possible operator data charges for the download.

2. How do I get Catalogs on my device?

If you do not already have the Catalogs icon on your device, then you will need to download Catalogs to be able to access the great range of available content, services and applications. You can check if your phone is compatible and download Catalogs here. From this page you download Catalogs to your PC and transfer it to your device. You can choose to save Catalogs in either your device memory or in your device memory card for easy access in the future. Catalogs requires between only 120 KB and 200 KB of memory, depending on your device type.
3. How do I know if my device already has Catalogs?

Catalogs may appear in different places on different devices. Common places to check are on the main menu, in the My Own folder, the Tools or Applications folder, or in the Download! folder. The Catalogs icon looks like this: . To locate Catalogs in your Nokia device, check here.

4. I can see a Catalogs icon already in my device. Is this the same as the content Catalogs?

Yes. Some devices already have Catalogs as an option in the menu, so you don't need to download it again.

5. What do I have to do to see new catalog providers on my device?

You can easily see if there are new catalog providers available in your local area by refreshing the Catalogs list. To do this:

1. Select Options from the main menu in Catalogs
2. Scroll and select Refresh list and select Yes if asked to connect to the server.
The Catalogs list is then updated and new catalog providers will be included in the menu for you to visit, browse and buy.

6. Do I have to pay for Catalogs?

It is free to download Catalogs from this site. However you may be charged for data transfer should you choose to download from Catalogs. Please contact your operator for specific data transfer rates and costs. Software prices are stated clearly in the software descriptions.

7. How do I download content using Catalogs?

Downloading from Catalogs is very simple. Start by choosing a catalog from the main menu, choose the category (such as Applications or Ring Tones), select the download you want to buy, and select Buy from the Options menu. Note: Some operators require purchase confirmation.

8. How much do downloads shown in Catalogs cost?

Each download is priced individually and is clearly shown in the description of each item for sale. Prices are based on the download and the provider, which varies from country to country and operator to operator. Nokia does not determine the pricing.

9. How will I be charged for downloads I purchase?

This also depends on the individual provider, which varies from country to country and operator to operator. Some downloads are free of charge, so you only have to pay possible operator data charges for the download. Others are purchased using premium SMS (sending an SMS message with a fixed, usually higher cost), or by credit card; some are charged to your phone bill.

10. How do I preview a download?

If the download offers a preview option (not all do), select Preview from the catalog Options menu.

11. What if I buy an item and the download is interrupted before it is delivered to my device?

During the download, a progress indicator is displayed which shows the time remaining for the download to be completed. If your download is interrupted (eg: because of lack of mobile coverage), the process automatically restarts from the point where the connection was broken once the disruption is removed. You can also go to Options and select Get to resume the download if it has been disrupted for a longer period of time (eg: no battery power) or if you elected to cancel the download for any reason after payment had been accepted.

12. Do the downloads offered come from Nokia?

Most applications do not come from Nokia, but some may. The offering varies from country to country. To view all providers, look for the provider icons in the Catalogs main view.

13. Catalogs is not working, what is wrong?

Most likely you have no data (GPRS / WCDMA) connection or coverage. Check your network settings and try again. Note however that in some countries, the Catalogs icon may be present in your menu but "empty" (that is, nothing happens when you select it) because the service is not yet supported in your area. In this case, please also try again later as new content is being regularly added.

14. I can't open a provider's catalog, what should I do?

If you're being presented with an error message when trying to open one of the catalogs, you may need to remove and refresh your catalogs listing. Follow these easy steps:

1. Go the the main menu view within Catalogs
2. Scroll to the catalog provider that is showing the error message so that the icon is highlighted
3. Select Options
4. Scroll and select Remove and select Yes to confirm that you want to remove this provider
5. Select Options
6. Scroll and select Refresh list and select Yes if prompted for a connection to the server
The catalog list will then be updated on your device.
