Our Code of Conduct guides us in all the ways we do business, including with our suppliers
Nokia requires that all products and services sold under the Nokia brand are sourced according to practices which uphold internationally accepted standards. These sourcing practices also need to comply legally with human rights and workplace practices throughout the value chain. We are constantly developing our processes and overall supply-demand network set-up to efficiently meet this growing demand. This is a significant competitive advantage for us.
Close cooperation with customers and suppliers is one of our core development principles. It allows end-to-end efficiency and speed – key success factors for the entire supply chain.
Integrating CR practices into our business
Our aim is to ensure that environmental, ethical, and health and safety issues, as well as labor practices, are not separate add-on features, but are embedded within all our sourcing processes, including supplier selection and relationship development. We expect those companies in our supplier network to take a similar approach.
Openness and trust are important aspects when working together with suppliers and driving compliance. Some suppliers have well-developed corporate responsibility programs, while others need more support. The methods used to promote ethical considerations among our suppliers include the Nokia Supplier Requirements, face-to-face meetings, assessments, contractual agreements, training programs, and supplier-focused events.
Our sourcing activities can be divided into two categories:
Our Code of Conduct provides a clear statement of how we at Nokia manage our supplier network.
"Nokia will do its utmost to contract only with subcontractors or suppliers who themselves adhere to international human rights and environmental laws and practices. Nokia commits to monitoring the ethical performance of its suppliers and to taking immediate and thorough steps in cases where the ethical performance of its suppliers comes into question."
