November 2006

US highlight

In the US, we are actively seeking to increase the ratio of minority and women-owned suppliers on our sourcing projects. Nokia's Supplier Diversity initiative is an economic development program set up to encourage the creation, growth and expansion of small, minority and women-owned businesses within our supplier network. One example of increasing our business with minority groups is ZeroChaos, into which we have directed over US$2 million to date.

Under the diversity initiative, Nokia tracks its expenditure in relation to minority groups and benchmarks its progress over time. In 2005, US$20 million was directed towards supplier diversity programs. Current 2006 purchases from minority, women, and small business suppliers as of August 31, 2006 has increased to US$24 million.
