Enabling successful business for all
The concept of Openness has probably as many definitions as it has definers. Nokia approaches Openness as a way of working with our customers, partners, colleagues and developers in building the next generation technologies and solutions. We establish Openness on four robust pillars, which we call the four C's:
These four C's can also be found in the architectures forming the technical base for Nokia offering: Symbian OS, owned and licensed by major vendors, the S60 Software, licensed to mobile phone manufacturers; JavaTM, used by 4 million application developers worldwide; Open Source development, and Open Mobile Alliance, 3 GPP and other industry bodies where multilateral decision-making is an everyday activity.
Compatibility with openly developed and reasonably licensed technologies creates an ecosystem where new ideas and innovations flourish, growing the mobile experience more exciting and beneficial for all.
