When Phil Brown joined Nokia as UK marketing manager in 1991, users of mobile phones made up fewer than 1% of the world's population, and those that had them were businessmen. The only service available was voice.

Phil's Nokia career has coincided with the development of the Nokia brand, the highly penetrated mobile phone market and our industry transition in the internet world. During this time Phil has worked in the sales and marketing environment of Nokia across Europe, led Nokia's mobile services business unit, and had responsibility for the management of Mobile Phones' portfolio in Europe.
