scanR Uploader
scanR is now available on the Nokia Download! client. scanR is the first service that enables S60 imaging phones to use their built-in cameras to scan documents, whiteboards, and business cards, extract the printed information, and share the digital file in an e-mail, contact manager, or fax. To use scanR, simply take photos of your information, send the photos to the scanR service through the Uploader application, and receive the results on the Web, in e-mail or as a fax. scanR Uploader for S60 3rd Edition is available for download worldwide on the Nokia Download! client, as well as at m.scanR.com on your phone or www.scanR.com on your computer. scanR is currently free for usage of up to five scans per month, although your mobile operator may charge you for sending and receiving data. For heavier users, scanR offers a plan with unlimited scans and storage for 3 euros per month or 30 euros per year, with comparable rates available in the U.S.
scanR allows you to get an exact digital copy of your information, quickly and easily, using the device you already carry. The service uses advanced image processing technology to overcome common digital imaging challenges such as low lighting, shadows, blurring, and skewed orientation in order to provide consistently high-quality results from images taken in a wide range of conditions. By automatically tagging each scan with the keywords extracted from the text on the paper, scanR also lets users save information digitally and allows them to easily find it on scanR.com or by using desktop search tools. In addition, the service lets you e-mail digital copies or send faxes nearly anywhere in the world while traveling or at home, without seeking and paying for a copy center.
scanR is also an accurate business card scanner. According to market research firm Frost & Sullivan, the scanR proprietary technology is more accurate than existing desktop card scanners. The current version of scanR is optimized for North American business cards but soon will support additional languages and countries.
