To set up e-mail settings
on you Nokia 6170 phone, press Menu,
and select Messages,
Message settings,
and E-mail messages.
You then select from the following:
Configuration.
Only the configurations that support the e-mail
application are shown. Select a service provider,
or Default,
or Personal config.
for the e-mail application. You may receive the
e-mail settings as a configuration message.
Account.
Select an e-mail application account contained
in the active configuration settings.
My
name. Key in your name or nickname. Your
name and e-mail address will be shown.
Include
signature. You can define a signature that
is automatically added to the end of your e-mail
when you write your message.
Reply-to
address. Key in the recipient e-mail address.
SMTP
password. Key in the password that you
want to use for outgoing mails.
Display
terminal window. Select Yes
to perform manual user authentication for intranet
connections.
Incoming
server type. Select either POP3
or IMAP4
depending on the type of e-mail system that you
are using. If both types are supported, select
IMAP4. Changing
the server type also changes the incoming port
number.
Incoming mail settings
If you have selected
POP3 as
the incoming server type, the following options
are shown: Retrieve
e-mails, POP3
user name,
POP 3 password and Display
terminal window.
If you have selected
IMAP4 as
the incoming server type, the following options
are shown: Retrieve
e-mails, Retrieval
method, IMAP4
user name,
IMAP4 password and Display
terminal window.
NOTE
The e-mail settings affect
the sending, receiving and viewing of e-mail messages.
The connection settings are required for the message
traffic. These might be called connection settings,
WAP settings or something else, depending on the
operator or service provider.
