There are two ways to connect your phone to your PC:
  • Infrared

  • Cable - connect to the USB port on your PC. The Nokia Connectivity Adapter Cable DKU-5 is available as an enhancement for your Nokia 7210.
The connection between your phone and your PC is made through the Nokia Connection Manager, which is automatically installed when you install PC Suite 5.0.

The simplest way to access the Nokia Connection Manager is to double click the phone icon that appears on your task bar:

Once you have double clicked the phone icon on your task bar, the connection manager will open:

The connection types are managed using the three icons at the top of the connection manager. The yellow icon manages the serial cable connection, the red icon manages the infrared connection and the blue icon manages the Bluetooth connection (not available for the Nokia 7210).

If your phone is physically connected to your PC, but you cannot get the PC Suite to recognize the connection:
  1. Click the icon that represents the connection type that you have chosen.

  2. The name of your phone should now show on the connection manager. Select your phone and click Apply and then OK. (Alternatively, you can do the same by double clicking your phone name on the list.)
If the above steps do not work and you are using infrared, make sure that your infrared connection is active in your phone. Additionally, make sure that there is no other application (such as a PC application for another phone or pocket PC) using the COM ports. If there is, close it. If the connection still does not work, reboot both your phone and your PC.
