Troubleshooting

After you have installed the Nokia Modem Options, you need to make the settings for your Nokia 7210 using the Nokia Modem Options.

To do this:
  1. Connect your phone to your PC via cable or infrared.
  2. Start the Nokia Modem Options by going to My Computer > Control Panel > Nokia Modem Options. The Nokia Modem Options user interface should open.
  3. Select the appropriate phone and connection method (Nokia 7210 IrDA/cable) from the Installed Nokia Modems list. (Only phones that are installed and that support GPRS and HSCSD are shown). If your phone is not visible, click the Refresh button. If you installed both of the connection methods, you must configure the Nokia Modem option settings for both connection methods.
  4. Next, under Data connection, configure the GSM data connection settings, if you are going to use GSM data.
    • Under Speed, select 9.6 KBits/s if the service provider you are using does not support high-speed data (HSCSD) or if you have problems making a data call. Use speeds of 14.4 KBits/s or higher only if you are sure that the service provider you are using supports high-speed data (HSCSD). If in doubt, check with your service provider.
    • Select Connection method. Check whether your service provider supports Modem, ISDN V.110 or ISDN V.120.
  5. If you are going to use a GPRS connection, enter the GPRS Access Point name. You should receive this information from your service provider.
  6. When you are ready, click OK.
  7. If you installed both connection methods (Cable and Infrared) you should now return to step 3 of the instructions and configure the settings for the second connection method.
