Biography
Anssi Vanjoki is Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Markets unit, a position he has held since January 2008. In the role, Anssi is responsible for consumer insights, sales, marketing, manufacturing and logistics across all Nokia products and services. He has been a member of the Nokia Group Executive Board since 1998.
Highly respected across the brand and marketing industry, Anssi has been a visionary force in Nokia's efforts to address the markets for mobile devices and services. His work has focused on developing the Nokia brand and positioning the company as the worlds of mobility, computing and the Internet have converged.
Anssi joined Nokia in 1991, taking on the role of Vice President, Sales, Nokia Mobile Phones. In 1994, he became Senior Vice President, Nokia Mobile Phones Europe and Africa. In 1998, he was made Executive Vice President, Nokia Mobile Phones Europe and Africa. In addition, in 1999, he took responsibility for Nokia's Digital Convergence Unit and, in 2002, also headed up the Business Unit Management. From 2004, he served as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Multimedia, with overall responsibility for the Nokia Nseries range of smartphones as well as Nokia services.
Anssi is the chairman of the board of Amer Sports Corporation, the sporting goods group, and a member of the board of Sonova Holding AG, a leading provider of hearing healthcare solutions. He is a Knight, 1st Class, of the Order of the White Rose of Finland and Commander of the Order of the White Rose of Finland.
Prior to joining Nokia, he held a variety of management positions at the 3M Corporation.
He holds a master's degree in economics from the Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration.
