Biography

Anssi Vanjoki is Nokia's executive vice president in charge of the Mobile Solutions unit, responsible for the company's portfolio of mobile computers, smartphones and the services business. He has been a member of the Group Executive Board since 1998, and was appointed to his current position in July 2010. He reports to the CEO.

Anssi has been a leader in Nokia's efforts to address the growing markets for mobile devices and services. He has been noted for his work developing the Nokia brand and positioning the company as the worlds of mobility, computing and the Internet have converged.

Anssi joined Nokia in 1991 as vice president of sales in the Mobile Phones unit. In 1994, he became senior vice president, Nokia Mobile Phones Europe and Africa. He was named executive vice president, Nokia Mobile Phones Europe and Africa in 1998. One year later he took responsibility for Nokia's Digital Convergence Unit, and in 2002 he also headed up Business Unit Management. From 2004, he served as executive vice president and general manager of Multimedia, with overall responsibility for the Nokia Nseries range of smartphones, as well as Nokia services. Anssi was general manager of the Markets unit from January 2008 until assuming his current role.

Anssi is chairman of the board of Amer Sports Corporation and a board member of Sonova Holding AG, a leading provider of hearing healthcare solutions. He is a Knight, 1st Class, of the Order of the White Rose of Finland and Commander of the Order of the White Rose of Finland.

Before joining Nokia, Anssi held a variety of management positions at 3M Corporation.

He holds a master's degree in economics from the Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration. He was born on Sept. 13, 1956, in Helsinki, Finland.
