Biography

Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo has been CEO of Nokia since 2006, leading the company through one of the most significant transformations in its 145-year history.

Under Olli-Pekka's leadership, Nokia has been transformed into a leading provider of mobile devices that combine advanced technology with personalized services, connecting people to what matters to them in new ways. Every day, more than 1.2 billion people across the globe connect to one another with a Nokia, from mobile phones to advanced smartphones and high-performance mobile computers.

Olli-Pekka joined Nokia in 1980 as corporate counsel. In 1987, he was appointed assistant vice president of the Legal Department, and in 1988 he was named assistant vice president, Finance. Olli-Pekka was promoted to senior vice president, Finance, in 1990.

In 1992, Olli-Pekka was appointed executive vice president and chief financial officer. In 1997-1998, he served as corporate executive vice president, Nokia Americas, responsible for all Nokia's business operations in the Americas. He returned to the position of CFO in 1999. From 2004 to 2005, Olli-Pekka was executive vice president and general manager of Mobile Phones. He was named president and chief operating officer in 2005, before his appointment to his current role.

Olli-Pekka has served on the Nokia Board of Directors since 2007, and has been a member of the Group Executive Board since 1990. He has been chairman of the board of Nokia Siemens Networks since it was founded in 2007. He also serves as a board member of the Confederation of Finnish Industries EK, is a member of the European Round Table of Industrialists and the Council of the EU-Russia Industrialists Round Table, and serves as an Economic Advisor to the Governor of Guangdong Province (China).

He holds a master's degree in law and an honorary doctorate in law from the University of Helsinki. Before joining Nokia, Olli-Pekka held a variety of positions with the Union Bank of Finland.

Olli-Pekka was born on July 13, 1953, in Lavia, Finland. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, tennis and reading political history.
