Troubleshooting for Nokia 500

If there's no PDF reader in your phone, check the availability of 3rd party PDF readers at Nokia Store.

There is a small button below the volume keys that activates or deactivates the key lock. The keys can also be unlocked by pressing the menu button and selecting the unlock icon on the screen.
 

If Quickoffice is not pre-installed in your phone, check the availability of the application for your phone at Nokia Store.

Note that Quickoffice is a 3rd party product and the availablity may vary depending on the phone platform and region.
 

Nokia 500 supports the following mail and messaging services:

• Mail for Exchange (for corporate mail).
• Internet based mail services via the Nokia Messaging service. Nokia Messaging is a Nokia-hosted service for accessing consumer mail, such as Yahoo! Mail, Gmail or Windows Live Hotmail).
  
• Direct POP/IMAP access.
  

All mailboxes can be set up and accessed in one location in Menu > Applications > Mail or via the mail widget on the home screen.

Chat is also available by separate download.

 

Your phone operates with a standard size SIM.  Nokia 500 does not support microSIM.
 

Press the back cover, and slide it off. Slide the new back cover on, and press to lock it into place. Buy extra covers from a Nokia authorised dealer. You can also use a matching software theme from Nokia Store.

Angry Birds for Nokia 500 is available when you update the phone sw to Nokia Belle.

Most common games should work fine on your device. Some games utilizing complex graphics and demanding animations may suffer from performance limitations.

Visual multitasking makes it easy to switch between the applications, revisit the actual screens, or even close them from the task switcher with just a long press of the Menu key.

Power key/End key:

• A long press switches the phone on or off when the keys are unlocked.
• A short press lets you change the profile, switch off or lock the screen and keys of your Nokia 500.
  

In QWERTY keyboard mode, # key:

• A long press enables/disables numeric input.
  
• Access accented characters directly by a long press on the related character.
  

Voice key/Send key:

• In idle mode, a long press invokes voice commands. For example, a long press of a number for voice mailbox (country/network dependent).

Popular social networking sites can be set up in the  Social icon on the Main Menu.

Select Menu > Social, and sign in to the social networking services that you use. Note that services are dependent on regional availability and social network offering. 

Using social networking services requires network support, so data costs may incur. Before sharing information, check the privacy settings of the social networking service you are using and familiarise yourself with the terms of use and the privacy practices of the service.
