Troubleshooting for Nokia E5-00

To lock (or unlock) the keypad manually in the home screen, press first the left selection key and then the right selection key. Or press the power key briefly, and select Lock keypad.

The keypad of your device locks automatically after the keypad autolock period. To change the autolock period go to Menu > Ctrl. panel > Settings > General > Security > Phone and SIM card > Keypad autolock period. 

When the keypad is locked, you can still answer incoming calls and make calls the official emergency numbers programmed into your device.

Note: With the Nokia E5-00, the power key is the same key as the End key. When pressing the end key inside an application, it will cause the device to go into the homescreen, instead of the usual options to change the profiles and lock the device.

Select Menu > Ctrl. panel > Settings > General > Personalise > Standby mode.

To change Home screen theme, select Home screen theme and one from the list: 

• Contacts bar,
• Active,  
• Horizontal icon bar
• Talking theme,
• Basic or
• Vertical icon bar.

Select Key Shortcuts to change an application or a bookmark on the Left selection key and the Right selection key.

Other selections vary depending on the selected home screen theme:

On Active theme, select Mode settings to define:

• The E-mail notifications, Primary and Secondary mailbox and email preview, 
• The Applications shortcuts, for example, Maps, Camera,.. 
• The Home screen applications, for example, Mail Notifications, Missed call notification,..
• The General theme on the home screen,
• The Wallpaper on the home screen.

On Contact bar theme, to define home screen shortcuts and notifications select:

• The Key shortcuts, Right and Left selection keys,
• The Shortcuts, for example Camera, Maps, ..
• The Home screen application, for example Calendar, WLAN or Contact bar,
• E-mail notifications, define mailbox, Show message details and Visibility. 

Yes, video call is supported, although there is no secondary camera on the Nokia E5-00 device. You can display pictures over the video call by using main camera.

The Microsoft® Communicator mobile setup wizard is visible also on the home screen after selecting the Active home screen theme. Go to Menu > Ctrl. Panel > Settings > General > Personalisation > Standby mode > Home screen theme > Active.

To define your account on the Microsoft® Communicator mobile select Menu > Office > Communicator and Options > Settings. Enter your Domain, User name, Password, Server URL, and Network connection. Your Server URL is the web address used for Communicator Web Access server (example: https://cwa.company.com). You can check the details with your IT Administrator. 

Note! You can download Microsoft® Communicator mobile from Nokia Store.

Select the activated profile (for example General):

1. Select Personalise. 
2. Select E-mail alert tone other than Off. This is the sound that will be heard when receiving emails.  
3. Check that the Message alert tone is not Off.

If the email alert does not still work do the following steps:

1. Select Active home screen theme
2. Changed the primary and the secondary mailbox on the Email Notifications definition to none
3. Return to the Idle screen and then go to the Personalisation settings and select mailboxes again.
4. After that Email alert  start to work. It should work also although you change the home screen theme back to Contact bar.

Nokia E5-00 device has not a separate camera key. Start the camera application and press Navi key to take a picture. 

Select Menu > Ctrl. Panel > Settings > General > Personalization > Tones > T-Coil hearing aid mode > Off.

The icon is the Hearing aid symbol. It is located on the bottom of the Nokia E5-00 screen. 

Note! The SIM card must be inserted and profile should not be offline when you disable the icon.

Perform the following steps to assign a ringtone to a contact:

1. Select Menu > Contacts.
2. Select the contact you want to assign a ringtone.
3. Select Options > View details > Options > Ringing tone
4. Select the ringing tone you want to assign to the contact.

Note: The contact which you want to add the tone should be in the phone memory.

You can format your device by typing *#7370# in standby mode. Before the device is reset, you may need to provide the lock code. The default lock code is 12345.

IMPORTANT NOTICE!

• Formatting the device will permanently erase all user data and settings as well as add-on applications and operator specific settings.
• If you have made a backup of the device data, the data can be restored from the backup after formatting but some add-on applications can have restrictions that they are not restored from the backup.
• If you use formatting to repair faulty behaviour of the device, restoring the backed-up data files may restore the unwanted behaviour as well. In that case, a partial restore may resolve the situation.
• The contents of the SIM card and memory card (MMC) are not erased during formatting. Note, however, that in some device models (e.g. Nokia N8-00, E7-00, E6-00, C7-00 and X7-00) the internal mass memory E: will be formatted in this situation. It is therefore important that you back up all your data from the E: mass memory before resetting the device. Use Nokia Suite to back up the contents to your PC.
  

To check the unique Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) Media Access Control (MAC) address that identifies your Nokia phone, enter *#62209526# in the idle mode (or with touch screen phones after opening the dialler).
