What can I do if I cannot access the Internet with my Nokia phone? - Nokia FAQ

Average Rating
Do the following:
  1. Restore the original factory settings on your Nokia phone. For information on how to do this, see your Nokia phone's user guide (your personal data is not deleted in the reset). Retry.
  2. Contact your network operator to check that Internet browsing (data connection) is included in your service contract (SIM card). Also verify that roaming is supported when you are not within your home network.
  3. Make sure your Nokia phone is running the latest software. For downloads and assistance, go to ýour local Nokia website's support page.
If you are still unable to access the Internet, bring your Nokia phone to nearest Nokia Care Point for inspection.

  1. Switch Battery saver mode off, or connect a charger to your phone.
  2. Check the signal strength on the phone screen. To increase the signal strength, try moving your phone slightly, or move towards a window if you are inside a building.
  3. Make sure that the internet sharing security type (if not selectable, WPA2 is used) and password settings match between your phone and the connecting device.
  4. If possible, try to create a connection with some other device.
  5. Connect again, as internet sharing switches off after 5 minutes of inactivity.

How do I get the best performance from GPS? - Nokia FAQ

Average Rating

In case you use a device with integrated GPS receiver, please have a look into the manual of your device on the location of the GPS receiver. When using the GPS receiver, hold it upright in your hand at an angle of approximately 45 degrees, with a clear view of the sky. Make sure that your hand does not cover the GPS receiver. The time it takes to establish a GPS connection may vary between a few seconds and several minutes. Establishing a GPS connection in the car may take longer.

We recommend that you make use of Assisted GPS (A-GPS) to speed up the connection time for your GPS. A-GPS uses your mobile internet connection to connect to a Nokia server that tells your device which GPS satellites it will be able to connect to, substantially reducing the time taken to get a GPS fix.

If no satellite signal is found, consider the following:

  • Check that your hand does not cover the GPS receiver.
  • If you are indoors, go outdoors to receive a better signal.
  • If you are outdoors, move to a more open space.
  • If the weather conditions are bad or you are behind UV protected or heated windscreen, the signal strength may also be affected.

Note: The GPS operations take their power from the battery. Using an internal GPS receiver or a Bluetooth connection to an external GPS receiver may drain the battery faster.

I cannot send or receive multimedia messages - Nokia FAQ

Average Rating
  1. If you have Nokia Lumia 505, 510, 610, 710, 800 or 900, download and install the Network Setup application which can be found in the Nokia Collection on Store (Marketplace). To set up Internet and MMS settings, start the app and select your network operator.
  2. Confirm with your network operator that you have an active mobile data subscription (access to internet).
  3. If the data connection is lost, try reconnecting by switching Flight mode on and back off: Tap Settings > Flight mode. This resets the active data connection.
  4. If you have a known Wi-Fi network running in the background, this can trigger the Wi-Fi network connection to be established. The Multimedia Service (MMS) is a cellular network function and is not used when connected to Wi-Fi. In this case, tap Settings > WiFi and switch WiFi networking off.
