AppGate Network Security
AppGate Network Security enables users of devices based on S60 3rd Edition to securely access a variety of data resources inside of an enterprise's trusted, internal network. These may include specific enterprise applications and data, as well as e-mail, calendars, and contact lists. It supports strong two-factor authentication from suppliers such as NordicEdge AB, RSA, CRYPTOCard, and Mideye as well as other systems based on Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS) and/or Lightweight Directory Access Protocol/Active Directory (LDAP/AD). Another unique feature is support for roaming so that users can move between 3G/general packet radio service (GPRS) connections and 802.11x connections without having to re-authenticate. User privileges are differentiated in the authentication system, since some users may have access to enterprise data from which others are restricted.

The AppGate system now supports the Nokia N95 multimedia computer and Nokia E90 Communicator and other S60 3rd Edition devices in addition to devices such as the Nokia 9300 Communicator and Nokia 9500 Communicator. It offers full control of services to mobile users with detailed logging of all user activities. It also has support for strong encryption, including Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption with 128-bit keys. Roaming functionality offers users automatic and seamless reconnection if the communication link goes down or the device is assigned to another IP address. Traffic is compressed to increase network performance and reduce communication costs -- in many cases up to 50 percent. User rights can vary depending on the authentication method used.
