Qik Video Service
Qik is a new service that allows you to share live video from your S60 3rd Edition imaging device with your friends and interact with them via text while the video is streaming. Qik (pronounced "quick") lets you decide with whom you will share your live transmissions, including family, friends, or anyone on the Internet. Its patent-pending platform enables you to share your moments live to Web sites, blogs, YouTube, Facebook, MySpace, or orkut and notify your friends using short message service (SMS), e-mail, Twitter, or Pownce. The live video streaming through Qik's global data centers is indeed quick, with Qik, Inc. claiming that it has the least latency for mobile video streaming.
The Qik service is also a community-building tool: You can go to the Qik Web site to view live and archived videos from its users globally, comment on them, and share them with your friends. For example, you can view videos from the Cannes Film Festival, including interviews with filmmaker Michael Moore and the cast of the latest Indiana Jones movie, or watch the Pope addressing 125,000 people participating in World Youth Day in Australia. For more information and to sign up for the service, visit www.qik.com. Qik has been tested for use with all Nokia S60 3rd Edition devices, and the list of S60 3rd Edition phones being tested is growing almost daily.
