FAQ - What to do if there is continuous syncing and high power consumption when accessing Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 with Mail for Exchange client?

In Symbian^3 devices (Nokia N8-00, C6-01, C7-00) the email sync may become continuously active and the power consumption in idle state increase if Mail for Exchange (MfE) mail account has been set up on the phone and the mail server is upgraded from Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 to Exchange Server 2010.

The issue can be resolved by initiating once a full re-synchronisation in the Mail for Exchange client in the following way:

  1. Disable mail synchronisation temporarily by selecting Menu -> Applications > Mail > Settings > Mail for Exchange > What to sync > Sync mails > No.
  2. Go back until you exit from the mail settings (to save the profile changes).
  3. Enable mail synchronisation again by selecting Menu -> Applications > Mail > Settings > Mail for Exchange > What to sync > Sync mails > Yes.

After the above steps the situation will stabilize and no additional actions with Mail for Exchange settings are needed.
