Insert the memory card

Learn how to insert the memory card.

Some microSD cards may not be compatible with this phone. We recommend that you use your phone’s internal memory for saving photos and videos. On the start screen, swipe left, and tap settings icon Settings > phone storage . Switch Store new pictures on to phone . For more info on using a microSD card with your phone, go to www.nokia.com/lumia820/tips-and-tricks .

Your phone supports memory cards with a capacity of up to 64 GB.

Note:
  1. At a top corner of the phone, put your thumbnail in the seam between the screen frame and the back cover. Bend the cover until a side seam opens slightly.

  2. Repeat on the other corner, and remove the cover.

With the front of the phone facing you, first place your thumbnail on the top right corner of the phone to open the cover slightly. Then move your thumbnail to the top left corner of the phone to open the cover fully.
  3. If the battery is in, lift it out.

When removing the battery, lift the side of the battery that is closer to the top edge of the phone.
  4. Push the memory card into the memory card slot until it locks into place.

With the back of the phone facing you, from top to bottom, the memory card slot is the second one on the right edge of the battery compartment. When inserting the card, make sure the narrow side of the memory card goes in first, and the straight edge of the card is closer to the top edge of the phone.
  5. Line up the battery contacts, and replace the battery.

The battery contacts are at the bottom right of the battery and the battery compartment.
  6. Press the bottom edge of the back cover against the bottom edge of the phone.

First replace the bottom edge of the cover, then the top edge.
  7. Press the back of the cover until it snaps into place.
