What should I do when the Nokia Belle FP2 (or Refresh) update using FOTA fail? I have the UMU MS full application installed on my Nokia Belle device. - Nokia FAQ

Average Rating

You should uninstall the UMU MS full application from the Nokia Belle device before upgrading to Nokia Belle Refresh or Nokia Belle FP2.

If you have upgraded via Nokia Suite, the UMU MS full application will reset phone when you launch it. We recommend uninstalling the application.

The UMU MS full application has been removed from Nokia Store. The problem in the application is under the investigation of a third party. The application should not be reinstalled until issues have been fixed by the third party.

In case you have downloaded and paid the UMU MS full application from Nokia Store, contact Nokia Care to receive a refund.

How do I reset my Symbian^3 device? - Nokia FAQ

Average Rating

There are two different reset commands available to restore the factory settings in Nokia Symbian^3 devices (e.g. Nokia N8-00, E7-00, C7-00, Astound, C6-01, 700). The commands can be found in Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone management > Factory settings:

1) Restore

  • This command restores the original (i.e. factory) settings and does not affect documents or files stored on the device.
  • Email settings need to be recreated after the reset.
  • This command is the same as the command *#7780# typed on the keypad.

2) Delete data and restore

  • This command restores the original (factory) settings and deletes all content from mass memory (E:), also the pre-loaded content including e.g. widgets. The command deletes also all user content from the phone memory (C:).
  • All the settings need to be recreated after the reset and the applications reinstalled.
  • This command is the same as the command *#7370# typed on the keypad.
  • Note that all the user files on E: mass memory and C: phone memory will be deleted, e.g. the photos and videos. It is therefore important to copy the user data before resetting the device. Use Ovi Suite to take a full backup of the device contents.
  • Don't use this command unless necessarily needed because some of the pre-installed applications (e.g. Web TV widgets) may get deleted and need to be reinstalled via Ovi Store or from Menu > Applications > SW Update.

When resetting the device, you may be prompted to give a lock code. If the lock code has not been changed, the default code is 12345.

Before resetting, end all active calls and connections. If necessary, select the offline profile and check that there are no WLAN connections active.

How do I set up email on my Nokia Symbian ^3 device? - Nokia FAQ

Average Rating

You can set up email either using the New mailbox wizard on the home screen or by selecting MenuMail > New mailbox.

  1. Select Email provider from the list (for example Gmail).
  2. Enter your email address and password, select OK.
  3. The mailbox is created.

The following email service types can be set up:

  • Exchange ActiveSync (for corporate email)
  • Hotmail or Gmail using ActiveSync
  • Direct POP/IMAP connection to email server

All the mailboxes can be accessed in a single location in Menu > Mail or via Inbox on the home screen widgets.

If your email service is not found in the list, select Other and enter you email address and additional info if requested. You can change settings later by by selecting MenuMail > Settings > (mailbox name). The incoming and outgoing mail server settings can in this case be found in Mailbox settings > Advanced mailbox settings.

Note: You can set up an email mailbox also by using a Wireless connection. If you are setting up yours first mailbox (other than Exchange ActiveSync), you need to have the SIM card inserted into the device. Otherwise the Exchange ActiveSync is the only available selection.
