How can I keep my purchased applications when updating the phone software? - Nokia FAQ

Average Rating

This depends on the phone used. The latest Nokia phones are able to keep personal data in place - but there is an issue with older phones. It is highly recommended to take a backup before the firmware update.

If the applications were downloaded from Nokia Store you can easily redownload them by signing into Nokia Store website and accessing My Stuff.

How can I make sure I don’t lose any music tracks when I update my phone to Nokia Belle software? - Nokia FAQ

Average Rating

Check if you have stored music in the phone memory, that is, the C drive of your phone. Music tracks in C:\Data folder are backed up and restored to your phone during the software update to Nokia Belle. But if you have stored music tracks in any other folders in the C drive, they are lost during the software update. If you have DRM protected music tracks in your phone, note that you lose the licenses during the software update to Nokia Belle. After the update, you need to relicense all the copy protected music tracks you have on the phone.

How can I connect my phone to Internet with Nokia Suite? - Nokia FAQ

Average Rating

You can use your mobile device to connect a computer to the Internet. To do this, you need to have your mobile device connected to the computer via a USB cable or via Bluetooth.

To create an internet connection for the first time, do the following:

  • You can find the latest available Nokia Suite from your local support site
  • In the Nokia Suite Home view, click Tools > Options > Connect to Internet
  • Depending on the device model you are using, the internet connection is created as follows:

The connection is created automatically or you need to select the operator to be used when creating an internet connection. From the list that shows the operators in your country, select your home operator (in other words the operator to whose network you have subscribed to). Then click OK.

Once you are connected to the internet, you can see detailed information about the connection in the left-hand area of Home. The following information is displayed:

  • Operator or access point in use.
  • Duration of the current internet connection.
  • Amount of data transferred during the current internet connection

Note:If you have a Nokia Suite view other than Home open, the device area indicates that you are connected to the internet.

Steps to connect your device and computer:
Connect your device to the computer by using a USB cable or Bluetooth wireless connection. If you are connecting via Bluetooth, Bluetooth modem drivers may need to be installed on your computer.

Note: USB connection is much preferred  as USB is much stable.

Support software may also need to be installed on your mobile device. The support software is needed for keeping messages, contacts and bookmarks up to date on your device and computer. Accept the installation on your mobile device if the device asks for confirmation. The installation of Bluetooth modem drivers and support software depends on the device model you are using. If you cancel the installation or if the installation fails, it is later restarted automatically.

I would like to connect my phone and computer with a USB cable, but the connection fails. What should I do? - Nokia FAQ

Average Rating

To fix the problem, try the following solutions:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable and connect it again.
  2. If you use a USB hub, try connecting the phone directly to the computer.
  3. Check the USB cable for problems and replace if necessary.
  4. If your phone asks you for the connection mode that you want to use, make sure that you select Nokia Suite (or PC Suite) on your phone.
  5. Disconnect the cable, restart the computer, reboot the phone and try again.

Keep in mind that if you remove USB devices without using the Safely Remove Hardware tool in the Windows taskbar, connection problems may appear.

Also, if your connection suddenly stops working, you can try to repair it in the following way:

  1. Go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel (called Programs and Features in Microsoft Windows 7).
  2. Select Nokia Suite in the list of applications and click Change/Remove.
  3. In the dialog that appears, choose Repair. Nokia Suite then checks that all the needed files are intact and repairs any errors that were found.
  4. Then do the same with Nokia Connectivity cable driver, right click and Change/Repair.
  5. And finally, in Control Panel, Select Devices and Printers, and then remove your device profiles and reinstall them.
