Troubleshooting for Nokia products

There is an icon for the Drive application available on your phone's home screen.

You can also start drive navigation from Maps:
1. Search for the destination.
2. Select the place on the map and its information area at the top of the screen.
3. Select Navigate, and Drive here.

Your licence may have expired. Navigation days and other included licences must be activated within 3 months from the first launch of Maps application on your device.

This is possible only if you have the latest version of Maps 2.0 or Maps 3.01 installed on your device.

Your newly registered license will now add its duration to the existing license's.

Maps 2.0 is not only a mapping and routing application. The navigation upgrades release the powerful GPS navigation features of Maps 2.0. You can purchase Drive; full, voice-guided turn-by-turn car navigation.Or Walk; turn-by-turn pedestrian navigation and orientation. (For mobile devices without an internal GPS receiver, an external GPS receiver may be necessary; check your mobile device’s manual to see if it is equipped with an internal GPS receiver.)

You can purchase navigation upgrades for selected countries and regions.

4. Accept the Terms and Conditions and EUSA (End User Service Agreement)
5. Select Download
6. Select the required region
7. Select the length of the navigation license
8. Select the payment method
9. Select OK. A secure data connection to the license server is established using wireless LAN or mobile internet.

Area's suitability for navigation depends on its map coverage. If you purchase a licence or subscription for a bigger region, for example South-East Asia, the map coverage in certain areas may vary.

It is not possible to navigate in areas which don't have a very good map coverage, although these areas are included in your navigation region.

Maps informs you of the coverage of a license during the purchase process. 

If you want to check the coverage of an already purchased license:

7. You will then see a list of all the navigable regions.

Bigger cities are becoming more pedestrian-oriented and less suited to cars. Therefore, Maps offers you the possibility to explore a city on foot. The look and feel of the maps is optimised for pedestrian usage.The maps are more detailed and show the outlines of buildings in a number of cities. The major difference compared to Drive navigation is that Walk navigation takes into account information that is not suitable for car navigation. For example, one-way streets can be used for walking in both directions. For some cities, selected pathways and information about metro entrances is provided.

Use Walk navigation to see sights and off-route locations. You can stop at any place as long as you want and resume the route afterwards. ‘Breadcrumbs’ show your previous position and mark the route you’ve been walking. Walk navigation is visual without voice guidance.

If you update the firmware before activating the navigation license, your license is not affected.

If you have already activated the navigation license and then update the firmware, reactivate your navigation license for the remaining period.

Please allow the connection to the license server to check for your licenses by selecting Yes and by then selecting the correct internet access point (if asked). A note, xx-day license activated is displayed where xx is the amount of days left on your license or alternatively the mobile device informs you that the license has been updated.

Yes, voice guidance for walk navigation is available in Maps 3.03 and later versions. Earlier versions of Maps do not support voice guidance for walk navigation.

Choose the walk guidance language in the Maps navigation settings.

No, Nokia Maps on Windows Phone 7 provides only routing instructions and you cannot start drive navigation directly from Nokia Maps. Select Nokia Drive application to start the navigation.

If there's no voice guidance heard in Maps navigation when using the Polish voice files with street names, take the following actions to fix the issue:

• Set Maps to online mode by selecting Settings > Internet > Connection > Online.
• Select Settings > Navigation > Drive guidance > Polish - with street names. There should be an icon next to the entry with a phone and a red star and you will get a prompt to download the voice guidance files. Accept the prompt to download the files.
  

If there is no red star next to the icon and the voice file is not downloaded, try then to manually delete the folder \cities\diskcache\voices\polish_tts on mass memory and re-download the voice files as described above or download them via Nokia Suite.
