There could be a simple way to fix your phone...
We know it’s frustrating when your phone doesn’t work properly – especially if it turns out to be something that's easy to fix.
We’ve found that many phone problems can be fixed yourself in a few minutes – including phone lock-ups, application crashes, sound problems and a blank display. So before you contact us for a repair, try these fixes:
Easy fix 1: restart your phone
Press and hold the power key for at least 8 seconds. To switch your phone on again, press and hold the power key.
Easy fix 2: restore the factory settings
We recommend you back up your data first.
- End all active calls and connections.
- Select and Reset > Restore settings .
- If prompted, enter the security code.
After restoring the original settings, the phone switches off, and then on again. This may take longer than usual.
Restoring original settings does not affect personal data stored on your phone, such as:
- Contacts
- Calendar entries
- Documents, music, messages, or notes
- Internet bookmarks
- Accounts, security codes, or passwords
Easy fix 3: update your phone’s software
You might not be using the most recent software for your phone. If you need to update, back up your data and contacts first so you don’t lose them.
Your phone informs you when updates are available for your phone software or for individual applications. To keep your phone up to date, download and install the updates on your phone (network service). You can also check for updates manually.
Check for updates manually
- Select Settings > Applications > Manage applications .
- Open the Updates tab, and select Refresh icon to refresh the view.
You can update individual applications or all available applications.
