Troubleshooting for Nokia products

This has been fixed on the device software version 022.007 and later. Check the version by entering *#0000# on the home screen. To update select Menu > Ctrl. panel > Phone > SW Update.

Original problem:

When attempting to create a new contact entry by pressing the contact key for long, the contacts list opens. 

Workaround is to go to the Contacts and select Options > New contact. 

Yes, you can customize the right selection key on your home screen of your touch device (e.g. Nokia N97, N97 mini, C6-00). By default the right selection key will launch the Contacts application but you can change it by editing the home screen content:

• In home screen, select Options > Edit content.
• Select Options > Right selection key.
• Select either Application or Bookmark.
• Select the desired application or bookmark from the list.
• Select Exit.
• Select Done.

You can assign an application or a web page to the right selection key.

When the user certificate is imported to Nokia Eseries device, e.g to be used for authentication with WLAN connections, content of the certificate is checked and if there are any issues with the certificate fields, importing of the certificate will fail and the error message "Private key corrupted" is shown.

One common situation where this issue may occur is if the KeyUsage field in the certificate has the nonRepudiation bit enabled. A certificate with nonRepudiation bit is rejected by Nokia Eseries devices because of the security reasons.

The workaround is to create a new user certificate where the nonRepudation bit is removed. The nonRepudiation bit is not necessary when doing a certificate based authentication e.g. in WLAN environments.

Select Menu > Ctrl. panel > Settings > General > Personalisation > Optical Navi key > Vibration > On /Off.

The cursor might move if the Optical Navi key is affected by a very bright light. This might also for example make the camera autofocus spontanously.

Menu option is by default set to Left Selection key. Sometimes the menu does not open though Left Selection key or Home key are pressed. The keys start to work after restarting the phone. The issue only appears when Menu option is selected for Left Selection key.

As a workaround solution change Left Selection key option to something else than Menu option. For example to clock.

Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Personalisation > Standby mode > Shortcuts > Left selection key > Instead on Menu select something else from the selection list.

The side key (camera key, lock key or volume key) could get stuck under the back cover. Remove the cover and push the side key from inside of the cover to outside to make sure it is in the right position. Put the cover back and try again. Be careful that you do not touch the side keys when placing the cover on the phone.

No, the message is saved and you can it find in Messaging  > Drafts.

Exception: in Nokia S30 Series devices the message is not saved.

If the touch screen calibration is interrupted by pressing Call key or End key, the applied settings may cause instability when using the touch screen or the Call and End keys. In such situation, the calibration should be done again.
