Tero Ojanperä is Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of
Nokia. Nokia is the world leader in mobile communications, expanding mobility into
new areas such as imaging, games, entertainment, media and enterprises. Tero is
responsible for corporate and technology strategy, strategic alliances and partnerships,
research, standardization, intellectual property rights, venturing, S60 SW platform
sales & marketing, Forum Nokia developer activities and business infrastructure.
Tero has played a defining role in the research and development work
of Nokia's business groups since joining the company in 1990. Throughout his career
he has consistently shown an ability to balance the strong elements of his scientific
background with Nokia's broader business strategies. Before being appointed to his
current role, Tero headed Nokia Research Center (NRC) during 2002-2004.
He is a highly respected industry commentator and author of the book "WCDMA for
Third Generation Mobile Communications" (1998) and its second edition "WCDMA: Towards
IP Mobility and Mobile Internet" (2001).
Tero holds a master's of science
degree from the University of Oulu, Finland and a PhD degree from Delft University
of Technology, The Netherlands.
