Jyri Huopaniemi is Director of the Media Laboratory at Nokia Research Center. He joined Nokia in 1998 and has held research management positions in the fields of multimedia technology, mobile applications and interaction.

In his current role, he is leading NRC’s Media Laboratory that carries out strategic and long-term research on innovative media and communications solutions, including human practices and design, internet media technologies, personal content and media, immersive communication and mixed reality, interaction and user interfaces.

Jyri received his doctoral degree from Helsinki University of Technology in 1999.
