Nokia Acquires InTalk Inc.

Nokia announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire InTalk Corporation, a privately-owned U.S. based company, which focuses on the development of wireless LAN access point products.

Founded in 1996, InTalk designs and develops wireless LAN components and products. The company sells directly to corporate customers and through OEM channels. InTalk offices are located in San Jose, California and Cambridge, UK.

Mr. Reijo Paajanen, Senior Vice President of Product Creation at Nokia Wireless Business Communications, said that the technology InTalk provides has promising business potential in the future.

"The importance of wireless solutions in corporate environments is constantly growing. In the future, corporations need new, more effective, high speed wireless data solutions. With Nokia's and InTalk's expertise combined, we can develop very advanced solutions for our customers in this rapidly developing market", Mr. Paajanen said.

InTalk's product portfolio consists of Wireless LAN access point products. With InTalk's wireless solutions, businesses can leverage the freedom of wireless LANs to gain access to network files, the Internet, e-mail, video and even video teleconferencing from any location. This new technology and IEEE standards-based products enable computers to network wirelessly at high-speeds. The company's products focus on data communications and are designed to support the next generations of higher speed wireless solutions. InTalk products incorporate the PRISM ®Radio Chip Set by Harris Semiconductor.
