Nokia anunţă un nou parteneriat cu Mozilla şi intenţia de a achiziţiona compania de cartografiere 3D earthmine

San Francisco, California – Nokia a lansat ieri HERE, primul serviciu de geolocalizare bazat pe cloud, care livrează cea mai avansată experienţă în domeniul hărţilor şi localizării pe mai multe dispozitive şi sisteme de operare. Prin noul său brand, HERE, Nokia doreşte să inspire o nouă generaţie de servicii bazate pe locaţie şi dispozitive prin care experienţa mobilă să devină mai personală pentru oamenii de pretutindeni.

"Oamenii vor hărţi excelente, iar prin HERE putem reuni serviciile Nokia bazate pe locaţie pentru a oferi utilizatorilor o modalitate mai bună de a explora, descoperi şi împărtăşi lumea lor," a declarat Stephen Elop, Preşedinte şi CEO al Nokia. "În plus, cu HERE ne putem extinde expertiza de 20 de ani în domeniul serviciilor bazate pe locaţie către noi dispozitive şi sisteme de operare.

Servicii de geolocalizare pe noi dispozitive şi sisteme de operare
Pentru a-şi extinde serviciile bazate pe locaţie, Nokia lansează o aplicaţie de hărţi pentru sistemul de operare iOS sub marca HERE. Bazată pe HTML5, aplicaţia va include capabilităţi offline, navigaţie pietonală cu ghidare vocală şi informaţii despre rutele de transport în comun. Aplicaţia este planificată să devină disponibilă gratuit în magazinul de aplicaţii al Apple în următoarele săptămâni.

Nokia a mai anunţat un parteneriat strategic cu Mozilla pentru a aduce noi experienţe bazate pe locaţie pe sistemul de operare Firefox OS. Nokia intenţionează să lanseze o versiune pentru internet mobil a serviciului HERE Maps pe noul Firefox OS anul viitor. Cele două companii lucrează împreună pentru a oferi utilizatorilor cea mai bună experienţă bazată pe locaţie pe sistemul de operare Firefox OS.

"Mozilla este lider în domeniul HTML5, folosind Internetul ca o platformă pentru dezvoltarea de aplicaţii impresionante, iar locaţia este o parte esenţială a acestei platforme," a declarat Jay Sullivan, Vice President of Products, Mozilla. "Suntem încântaţi să lucrăm cu Nokia. Combinaţia dintre Firefox OS şi platforma de localizare HERE oferă oportunităţi importante pentru ca dezvoltatorii de aplicaţii să creeze experienţe uimitoare pentru utilizatori."

Nokia a prezentat, de asementea, o aplicaţie de referinţă bazată pe sistemul de operare Android OS şi a anunţat planurile de a lansa, la începutul anului 2013, un kit de dezvoltare (SDK) pentru HERE, destinat producătorilor de hardware pentru Android. Astfel, partenerii vor putea crea aplicaţii bazate pe locaţie pentru dispozitive Android, folosind conţinutul de top de la Nokia.

Inovaţie în domeniul hărţilor

Pentru a optimiza capabilităţile 3D ale serviciului HERE, Nokia şi-a anunţat intenţia de a achiziţiona compania earthmine din Berkeley, California. Tehnologiile de capturare şi procesare a imaginilor folosite de companie vor deveni părţi integrante din capabilităţile de cartografiere 3D ale serviciului HERE.   

Nokia estimează că tranzacţia se va finaliza până la sfârşitul anului 2012.

"Este greu să creezi hărţi bune – dar localizarea revoluţionează modul în care folosim tehnologia pentru a interacţiona cu lumea reală," a declarat Michael Halbherr, Executive Vice President, Location & Commerce şi responsabil pentru brandul HERE. Cu LiveSight(TM) vedem mai mult din lumea reală

Ca parte din acest anunţ, Nokia a lansat LiveSight(TM), o tehnologie bazată pe o hartă 3D foarte exactă a lumii. LiveSight(TM) oferă cea mai exactă şi intuitivă experienţă de realitate augmentată. Prin utilizarea funcţiei Viewfinder a camerei foto a telefonului, descoperim lumea cu uşurinţa cu care ridicăm un telefon în mână. Nokia City Lens, dezvoltată exclusiv pentru terminale Nokia Lumia, este prima aplicaţie care oferă o experienţă bazată pe LiveSight.
