Troubleshooting for Nokia Asha 303

If you see an error such as SSL Certificate is not trusted this means that the certificate is missing on the device or has expired. You will need to install the certificate in either of the two ways described below. There are two methods to install the certificate.

Note: To IT Admins, if you wish to stage this Entrust certificate (or any other certificate file) on your own file delivery server then you will need to place the certificate file (i.e. filename.cer) on a remote server accessible to your employees.  Ensure your web delivery servers are configured to deliver the *.cer files with the mime-type:  "application/x=x509-ca-cert".

Note! Self-signed certificate is not supported.

Yes, Nokia Asha 303 does support USB charging. To charge your device when you do not have a charger with you or a wall outlet is not available you can use a compatible USB cable to connect to a compatible device, such as a computer.

Data can be transferred while charging the device. The efficiency of USB charging power varies significantly, and if your battery is completely drained it may take a long time for charging to start and the device to start functioning.

1. In the chat contacts list, select Options > More > Settings.
2. Select Play sound on new messages and Vibrate on new messages.
3. Select Save.
4. Select OK.

Yes, If you no longer want to send or receive chat messages from someone, you can block that contact. Blocked contacts no longer receive your presence information and they see you as unavailable or offline at all times. Not all communities allow you to block contacts. Depending on your Nokia device perform the following:
 
In the chat contacts list:

1.  Select and hold the name of the contact you want to block.
2.  Select Block Contact.
3.  Select Yes to confirm.

In the Conversation view:

1.  Select Options > Contact Options > Block Contact.
2.  Select Yes to confirm.

With most phones, you can access Chat by selecting it on the home screen. With some phones, you can find Chat by selecting Menu > Applications > Chat. To make sure that Chat is always easily accessible, add it to your home screen (see instructions for personalising the home screen in your user guide).

When you open Chat for the first time, you are required to type your user name or e-mail address and password to access your internet IM community. If you do not already have a registered account with an IM community, you can create a Nokia account by selecting Sign up for Nokia Chat. You can also sign up for another IM community online, using either your PC or your phone's browser. When you have created your account, you can access Chat.

Yes. In the chat contacts list, select and hold on your current avatar. In the pop-up menu, select from the following Change avatar options:

•  Select from Camera: Take a picture using your phone's camera and use it as your avatar.
•  Select from Gallery: Select an image from your phone's gallery as your avatar.
•  Use default: Use the Chat application's default avatar.

The ability to use Chat with different communities depends on your phone model. If your phone comes with the Nokia standard service level, you can access only Nokia Chat. If your phone has the Nokia premium service, you can access many of the most popular IM communities.

To sign in to another community, do as follows:

1.  Open your chat contacts list.
2.  Select Options > More > Select services.
3.  Select the community you want to access and select Continue.
4.  In the Sign in view, type your username and password.

Yes, select Hide. Chat reacts differently depending on which closing option you select: Hide, Sign Out, or Sign out all and close.

• Hide: When you select Options > Exit > Hide, Chat goes into the background and you are taken back to the home screen. You can still be notified of new messages, even if your phone is inactive, or you have switched to another application.
• Sign Out: When you select Options > Exit > Sign out, you are signed out of your current IM community and taken back to the Select account view. You will not receive notifications of new messages.
• Sign out all and close: When you select Options > Exit > Sign out all and close, you are signed out of all currently open accounts and taken back to the home screen.

When you type your user name or e-mail address, the phone stores it for subsequent sessions. If you select the Save password checkbox, your password is also saved.

Select Auto sign in to make sure that Chat opens without a formal sign-in process every time you open the application.

You can also stop Chat from signing in automatically every time you open the application (for example on Nokia Asha 303 device).

1. Sign out of Chat by selecting Options > Sign Out.
2. In the Select an account view, select and hold on the account you wish to edit and select Edit Account from the pop-up menu.
3. Disable the Auto sign in option.
4. Unselect the Save password checkbox.

If you have several ongoing conversations within the same community, you can move between the conversations by selecting the chat button. When you select it, all ongoing conversations are displayed in a list. Select the conversation you want to continue chatting with your contact.
