The battery saver feature in Nokia Drive on Windows Phone 8 lets you save the battery when the Drive application is in background. The feature will switch off GPS usage to reduce the power consumption when Drive is in background and no navigation is active. If navigation is active, you will hear the navigation instructions normally.
You can turn on and off the battery saver feature in Settings > Battery saver.
