Having problems with your Nokia phone?

We’ve found it’s possible to fix many phone problems yourself in a few minutes – including phone freezes, application crashes, sound problems and a blank display. To save yourself time, before you contact us for a repair try these quick fixes.

Easy fix 1: restart your phone

Turn your phone off and take the battery out. Wait a few minutes then put the battery in and turn your phone on. If your battery is not removable, press and hold the power button until the phone vibrates and the screen displays the “Goodbye” message.

Easy fix 2: restore the factory settings

We recommend you back up your data and contacts first.

Depending on your phone model, you can restore the factory settings by selecting:

Menu > Settings > About and selecting Reset your phone

Easy fix 3: update your phone’s software

You might not be using the most recent software for your phone. It takes about 15 minutes to update.

Check for updates automatically

Many Nokia phones can update automatically: just select Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone updates

Update your Nokia with Windows Phone

Select Settings > Applications > Manage Applications, then open the Updates tab and follow the instructions.

Update your Nokia <insert model no. of Windows phone>

If you have a Nokia <insert model no. of Windows phone>, you can download updates using Zune on your PC:

  1. Select Start on your phone
  2. Flick left to the App list and tap Settings > Phone update
  3. If an update is available, connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable.
  4. On your computer, open Zune and select Settings > Phone > Update

To start updating, select Update now
