   Managing the Connection

There are four ways to connect your phone to a compatible PC:

  • Cable connection
  • Infrared connection
  • Bluetooth connection
  • USB cable connection

The connection between your phone and a compatible PC is made through the Nokia Connection Manager, which is automatically installed when you install PC Suite 5.8.

One way to access the Nokia Connection Manager is to double-click on the phone icon that appears on the Windows task bar:

Once you have double-clicked on the phone icon on your task bar, Nokia Connection Manager will open:

The connection types are managed using the four icons at the top of the Nokia Connection Manager. The yellow icon manages the serial cable connection, the red icon manages the infrared connection, the blue icon manages the Bluetooth connection and black icon manages the USB cable connection.

The green background indicates which connection method is active. Only one connection can be active at a time. If you are making a data call, Nokia Connection Manager must not have an active connection with the phone. This will reserve the COM port and Windows cannot open the COM port. So if you want to establish a data call using a cable connection, the cable connection option has to be disabled from Nokia Connection Manager. The same applies to infrared and Bluetooth connections.
