1. Installation

During installation, I am asked to select a USB port, but I don't know which one to select.
You can check the port number from Device Manager:
Start-> Settings-> Control Panel-> System-> Hardware-> Device Manager...->
Ports (COM & LPT) There you should see "Port 1 on USB Serial Adapter (COM3)" or similar information. So in this case your cable is shown in COM3 and you should select it from the list during installation.

When installing PC Suite 5.1, I manually selected the USB port where the phone was connected. When running PC Suite 5.1 after installation, the connection does not work.
Check that the communication port you specified during Setup is the right one. If you selected the wrong communication port, open the Connection Manager from Control Panel and click the Advanced button to be able to change the USB port.

2. Connections

Nokia PC Suite 5.1 does not respond anymore.
If you are using an infrared connection, reactivate the infrared port of the phone and then restart Nokia PC Suite 5.1.

Nokia PC Suite 5.1 does not respond during a data call.
It is not possible to use Nokia PC Suite 5.1 during a data call. End the data call and restart Nokia PC Suite 5.1.

I disconnected and then reconnected my phone without waiting for Nokia PC Suite 5.1 to recognize that the phone had been disconnected. Now Nokia PC Suite 5.1 does not respond.
Before reconnecting the phone, you should wait until Nokia PC Suite 5.1 recognizes that you have disconnected the phone. This process may take a few seconds. The phone icon displayed on the status bar indicates the status of the phone connection. In Nokia PC Sync, the Nokia PC Sync tray icon appears yellow and white when the phone is disconnected. If you have reconnected your phone too early and experience problems, switch off your phone, then switch it on again and restart Nokia PC Suite 5.1.

How can I get my Nokia 6800 to work in Nokia Connection Manager through the DKU-5 cable?
Preconditions: You have a Nokia 6800, DKU-5 cable, Windows OS, correct Drivers fot the DKU-5 cable and Nokia PC Suite 5.1
1. Install the drivers to your computer.
2. Plug in the cable. Windows should recognize the cable and find the drivers for it.
3. Select Yes to the Digital signature question and OK that the drivers are installed.
4. Start Nokia Connection Manager (if not already open).
5. Turn cable button off (the leftmost button, has white background when turned off).
6. Turn phone off. Plug the cable into the phone and restart phone.
7. Turn cable button on
8. Phone should be shown in the list.

I cannot find the Connection Manager.
If you have installed only Modem Options, the Connection Manager is not installed. When you install any other application, the Connection Manager will always be installed.

How can I check the IRDA connection in Windows 98?
Before using Nokia PC Suite 5.1via IrDA, you can test the
functionality of the IrDA port in the following way:

1. Open the Microsoft Infrared Monitor.
2. Check that Infrared communication is enabled in your system.
3. Check that the Infrared Monitor has found your Nokia 6800 phone. (For information on how to activate the infrared port in your phone, refer to the User Guide of the phone.)

3. Synchronization

Nokia PC Sync does not work correctly with Lotus Notes.
Nokia PC Sync has different configurations for Lotus Notes 4.6 and 5.0 versions. If Nokia PC Sync uses the wrong configuration, the Lotus Notes Calendar database will not be synchronized correctly, so check that you are using the correct synchronization options for your version of Lotus Notes.

I have edited my Birthday/Anniversary entries either in my phone or in Lotus Notes 4.6 and resynchronized, but the corresponding Birthday/Anniversary entries in the phone or in Lotus Notes 4.6 were not modified accordingly.
Lotus Notes 4.6 provides support for repeating Anniversary entries. However, the way Lotus Notes handles reoccurring items differs from the way the phone handles them. The 'parent' entry is created and the yearly repeating occurrences are individual copies of it. If any of these occurrences are modified or deleted, the changes won't affect other occurrences. This concerns both Lotus Notes and the phone, whether the entries are to be synchronized or not.

I have birthdays with alarms saved on my phone. After synchronizing with Lotus Organizer, there are no alarms with those birthday items.
The alarm times set on the phone for birthday items will disappear from Lotus Organizer after synchronization. The birthday items saved on the phone that have no alarm set will, after synchronization, have the alarm set 7 days before the birthday. The alarms on your phone will not be affected by synchronization. This is a Lotus Organizer functionality, and there are no preventive actions available.

Old To-do items appear in my phone after I have synchronized the phone with Outlook.
If your Outlook Calendar has To-do items that have no due date, the items might be synchronized into the phone even if they are outside of the synchronization range.

The 'Synchronization completed' message appears, but all items are not synchronized.
If you have several Calendar items with alarms in your PIM, the synchronization procedure might be interrupted. To prevent this, remove the alarms and try again. The same phenomenon may occur when transferring Calendar items using Nokia Content Copier.

My Nokia PC Sync makes duplicates when I am synchronizing contacts after having restored them with Nokia Content Copier.
Nokia Content Copier always creates new identifications for the contacts when they are restored. These contacts are therefore identified as new ones. You can remove the duplicate contacts by using Nokia Phone Editor.

4. Content Copier

I disconnected the source phone and then connected the target phone without waiting for Nokia Content Copier to recognize that the phone had been changed. Nokia Content Copier does not recognize the target phone now.
Before connecting the target phone, you should wait until your PC stops detecting the source phone and the text Unknown appears in the Target phone box of Nokia Content Copier. This process will take a few seconds. If you have connected the target phone too early, please disconnect the target phone and now wait until the text Unknown appears in the Target phone box and then try connecting the target phone again.

In Nokia Content Copier, the message 'Phone memory full' appears when moving contacts from the old phone to the new phone.
To avoid this, move all contacts from the SIM card to the phone, and try again.

After using the erase option of the Nokia Content Copier, the call register of my phone is empty.
Regardless of what data you have selected to erase, the whole Factory Setup is run. The Factory Setup will always empty the call register.

When copying a contact item from one phone to another using the Nokia Content Copier, the web address is not transferred.
Nokia Content Copier does not support the transfer of web addresses.

When transferring data from one phone to another, the profile ringing tones are not transferred as they are in the phone.
The ringing tone IDs differ in some phone models and the tones might not be the same in both phones after using Nokia Content Copier.

Templates are not modified when using the Nokia Content Copier.
Changes in the source phone templates are not copied into the target phone. The first 20 items in the Templates folder are always left untouched.

I get an error message (errPnNameTooLong) when copying data from the PC to my phone using Nokia Content Copier.
This means that the SIM card in the target phone has less space for characters than the source phone SIM card. To continue the operation, please click the Retry button and Nokia Content Copier truncates the contacts automatically.

5. Ringing Tones

I made a MIDI ringing tone using Nokia Sound Converter but the phone cannot play it.
The phone's ability to play sp-MIDI files also depends on the properties of the actual sp-MIDI file. Not all sp-files can be played on the phone.
