The short-term solution is to open the slide and your display will be enabled again.
Another workaround is to cover the proximity sensor for a second and uncover it after that. This will activate the screen. The proximity sensor is located in the top right corner of Nokia E7 device.
This has been fixed on Nokia Belle.
