Troubleshooting for Nokia Music for Windows Phone

Open Marketplace and select Nokia Collection, the app should be displayed in the list. If not search for the Nokia Music app by selecting the search Icon and typing in the name of the application you are searching for.

You need to have the latest version of Nokia Music installed.

The latest version of Nokia Music is 3.5.x. Check your own version number by opening Nokia Music and go to Settings > About.

If you do not have the latest version of Nokia Music, you should be able to update Nokia Music from within the application, or go to Marketplace on your phone. If you cannot see an update for Nokia Music, upgrade Marketplace or delete Nokia Music from your phone and re-download it from Marketplace.

Once you have updated, locate the track or album in the Nokia Music store again and you should be able to re-download it again for free.

This FAQ applies to Nokia Lumia phones with Windows Phone 7.

You need to have the appropriate software and the Zune PC app installed on your PC. To download and install the latest version on your PC, or to learn more about Zune, go to www.zune.net. You may need to restart your computer, and you may need to install additional software.

Depending on what you need to install, and how much data you are transferring, this may take a while.

Some music files can be protected by digital rights management (DRM). These songs do not appear in your Zune music collection and you can't sync them on your Lumia.

These instructions may not apply to all phone models and manufacturers.

Nokia Symbian and series 40 phones, Android, Blackberry

1. Use a compatible USB data cable to connect your old phone to your PC.
2. Sync the desired content to your PC with the appropriate software, such as Nokia Suite, HTC Sync, or Samsung Kies. Note the folders where you synced the files.
3. Connect your new phone to your PC, and open Zune on your PC.
4. In Zune settings, make sure the folders are the same you used when syncing the content to your PC.
5. In Zune, select the desired music in your collection, and sync the music to your new phone.
   

iPhone

1. Use a compatible USB data cable to connect your new phone to your PC, and open Zune on your PC.
2. In Zune settings, select the same folder you have used when syncing with iTunes.
3. In Zune, select the desired music in your collection, and sync the music to your new phone.
   

Windows Phone

1. Use a compatible USB cable to connect your old phone to your PC, and open Zune on your PC.
2. Sync the desired content to your PC.
3. Connect your new phone to your PC.
4. In Zune, select the desired music in your collection, and sync the music to your new phone.
   

Syncing your music collection with a PC

Syncing music with an Apple Mac

If you are using an Apple Mac, download Windows Phone App from Mac App Store.

You can sync any DRM-free music, including iTunes library content, to Nokia Lumia with the Zune Desktop application. You can also synch Zune DRM-protected content.

Currently music or video email attachments can be viewed but they will not be saved to the phone.

However it is possible to sync the media files (music, video and pictures) directly between a phone and computer with Zune application (installed to your your computer). 

Currently it is not possible to download music and video files from Skydrive. However, it is possible to stream them to your device, for example, with a Skydrive application (available in Store).

This FAQ applies to Nokia Lumia phones with Windows Phone 7. 

It is possible to create playlists on your Lumia handset, without your PC. Doing it with Zune on your PC is much more flexible.

First you will need to create the playlist on Zune before synchronising it to your Lumia.

1. Open Zune on your PC.
2. Go to your Collection, where all your music, videos, photos and podcasts are stored.
3. On the right-hand side of the screen, underneath the Search box, select Playlists.
4. This is where you will be creating new and editing your existing playlists.
5. To create a new one, press New Playlist – this is towards the bottom left of the screen.
6. Give the playlist a name, such as ‘Exercise Music’ or whatever you want to call it and click OK.

Now that the playlist has been created, you now need to add / remove tracks and then synchronise the playlists to your Lumia.

1. To add tracks, on your music collection drag songs, artists or albums to the playlist icon in the bottom left of the screen – this is the black sheet of paper with three white lines across it (If you have more than one playlist, then you will need to select which playlist you want to add the song or songs to).
2. If you wish to remove or rename a playlist, right-click on the name of the playlist and those options will appear.
3. Finally, synchronise the playlists to your Lumia. Connect your Lumia to your PC with the USB cable, Then, just like how you sync pictures to your phone, just drag each playlist that you want to synchronise to the phone icon in the bottom right corner.
   

To access the playlist on your Lumia, just open Music & Videos > Music and then swipe across until you see the playlists screen.

To manage and transfer your music collection from your computer to your phone you need to download the Zune PC Software or the Windows Phone App (Mac OS) application. 

The Zune application is a program for your PC that lets you sync music, videos, and pictures between your computer and your phone. It also lets you install the latest software updates for your phone.
If you have a Mac, you can use Windows Phone App to sync multimedia files between your phone and your computer.

To change the album arts and sync music files  between your Nokia Lumia and your PC, you will need to install the Zune software on your computer, see Install the Zune software.
The album arts are updated automatically when you sync your music files between the Nokia Lumia and your PC. If you want to change the album art or it is missing please follow the instructions below.

How to get the album art:

• Connect your phone to PC using a compatible USB cable.
  
• The Zune sofware will start automatically, if it doesn't, open it manually by clicking the Zune icon on desktop.
  
• In the Zune software, click Collection > Music > right click on the album you want to update > select Find album info > Search > Next > Finnish.
  
• Drag the updated album to the phone icon in the lower-left corner of the Zune software.
  
• The new album art is now updated to music collection on your PC and synchronized with your phone.

 How to change the album art when it's already available on your computer:

• Connect your phone to PC using a compatible USB cable.
  
• The Zune sofware will start automatically, if it doesn't, open it manually by clicking the Zune icon on desktop.
  
• In the Zune software, click Collection > Music > right click on the album you want to update > select Update album art > select album art from PC and click Open.
  
• Drag the updated album to the phone icon in the lower-left corner of the Zune software.
  
• The new album art is now updated to music collection on your PC and synchronized with your phone.
  

How to resolve the issue:

1. Press Start button OR press and hold “Back” button.
2. Open Settings > Nokia account > sign in.
3. Press Start button OR “Back” button to get back to start screen.
4. Open Nokia Music.
5. You should be silently logged in and issue should not appear.
