Design is at the core of everything we do at Nokia. For more than 20 years, we’ve been exploring, experimenting, shaping and reshaping mobile technology.

About World Design Capital 2014 Cape Town
Cape Town was designated World Design Capital 2014 at the International Design Alliance (IDA) Congress in October 2011 in Taipei. This prestigious designation is bestowed once every two years by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID).

Cape Town’s World Design Capital 2014 bid, “Live Design. Transform Life.”, as well as its profile as a key design centre, technology start-up hub and hotspot for creative minds, all contributed to its winning bid.

Nokia’s involvement at World Design Capital 2014 Cape Town
As a company passionate about design, Nokia recognises design’s potential to engage, educate and inspire. Our design heritage spans many decades designing and manufacturing handsets for millions of consumers around the world, making Nokia part of a truly global dialogue. Nokia’s sponsorship of World Design Capital 2014 Cape Town is an extension of that dialogue where Nokia can contribute to the collective knowledge about design for better cities and social change.

During 2014, Nokia will participate in many of World Design Capital's signature events, as well as community-focused activities in Cape Town. These events create a platform for Nokia to discuss the role of design in our product-making and more broadly, about design principles that make technology more human.
