Enables the operator to deliver high quality data services to subscribers

21 July 2014

Espoo, Finland - Algérie Télécom, Algeria's state-owned operator, will soon be able to offer more reliable broadband connectivity to its subscribers across the largest country in Africa. To do this, the operator has appointed Nokia Networks to modernize its transport network sites with the highly flexible "Seamless MPLS" network. With this, subscribers of Algérie Télécom will soon enjoy significantly better data services.

"This project underlines our resolve to deliver a truly differentiated customer experience to our subscribers," said Azouaou Mehmel, president and CEO of Algérie Télécom Group. "We have complete faith in Nokia Networks' capability to deliver on our vision due to its technical knowledge and extensive experience in similar implementations. The Juniper Networks solution is optimized to provide industry-leading system scalability and performance of the transport network to address the unpredictable growth of data traffic. The deployment will save operating costs and enable Algérie Télécom to offer flexible end-to-end transport services more efficiently and securely across network domains.

Nokia Networks will also provide network planning, optimization and systems integration to ensure that the opeartor's network can deliver the necessary throughput, latency and resiliency for the highest quality of service. A five-year contract also provides hardware, software and competence development services to protect Algérie Télécom's capital investment.

"Following our recent LTE contract with Algérie Télécom, this is another important step in our long-standing partnership with the operator," said Igor Leprince, senior vice president and head of Middle East and Africa, Nokia Networks. "This engagement is a strong proof-point of Nokia Networks' commitment to take Algérie Télécom to the next level of communications technology.
