Over more than two decades, and through the investment of more than 20 billion, Nokia R&D led the development of the core technologies enabling virtually all mobile devices used today. The company's R&D leadership continues after the sale of Nokia's Devices & Services business to Microsoft in 2014. Recent achievements include the leading technologies for video and audio encoding, including H.265 and HD voice; low-power connectivity technologies such as Bluetooth LE (low energy); and imaging technologies which are now powering augmented reality apps such as HERE Live Sight.
Nokia invests in technologies important in a world where billions of devices are connected. We are focused on three businesses: network infrastructure software, hardware and services, which we offer through Nokia Networks; location intelligence, which we provide through HERE; and advanced technology development and licensing, which we pursue through Nokia Technologies. Each of these businesses is a leader in its respective field.
Nokia Technologies develops and licenses cutting-edge innovations that are powering the next revolution in computing and mobility: a "programmable world" where intelligent connections
bring millions of everyday objects online and create exciting new possibilities. We are expanding Nokia's successful patent licensing program and helping other companies and organizations benefit from our innovations. Additionally, we are exploring the possibility of utilizing new technologies in our own future products and services.
