Here’s a great way to keep 3.5 billion 3G subscribers very happy
While 5G is the future, 3G is the here and now
3G continues to impact the daily lives of billions of people. In fact by 2019, 3G will be the world’s most popular mobile technology by number of subscribers, supporting some 3.5 billion subscriptions*. But unlike some network vendors, Nokia continues to invest in a strong in-house engineering team to develop innovative features that will make the technology even more capable and help operators support 3G subscribers worldwide.
3 new features to boost 3G business, easily
Nokia is now launching 3 new 3G software features as part of our latest WCDMA 17 release:
Fortunately, the other two new software features have friendlier names.
The third new feature is called Flexible HSDPA Carriers Allocation. It allows efficient use of dual cell and dual band configurations with the optimized baseband resource utilization. In short, carrier aggregation can now be supported with more flexible and more effective Flexi solution configurations with operators benefiting from about a 30 percent increase in the number of HSPA devices that their networks can support. It makes connections better and improves user experience, no matter if network is busy.
So, what does this all mean for a typical consumer like Rose, for example, who we wrote about earlier in the year? Oblivious to all the engineering wizardry in the background, consumers will enjoy even faster services and more reliable connections to the network in even the busiest areas.
