Get more out of your LTE frequency bands with Multi-antenna optimization

This blog is by Harri Holma at Nokia Networks. Twitter: @nokianetworks

Did you know that uplink cell throughput can be doubled by using 4TX4RX configurations? And that average downlink data rates can be increased by more than 20% – all without any changes to the devices? Or that a 4TX4RX antenna at 2 GHz has a smaller surface than 2TX2RX antenna at 1 GHz?

In our new whitepaper “Multi-antenna optimization in LTE”, we discuss the benefits and gains of several field-proven antenna configurations.

Frequency spectrum and base station sites are among the scarcest and often most expensive resources for mobile networks. Likewise, the performance of base station sites is limited by the antenna configuration. Given that the majority of today’s LTE networks use simple cross-polarized antennas, there is huge untapped potential to enhance coverage, capacity and spectral efficiency.

Read the whitepaper to learn more about this, as well as gains via 8TX8RX with intelligent beamforming in TD-LTE, higher order sectorization, specific solutions for mass event venues and insights on further technology evolution.

We have more to share on our website for TD-LTE.
