Having problems with your Nokia phone?

Check this first:

We’ve found that many phone problems can be fixed yourself in a few minutes – including phone lock-ups, application crashes, sound problems and a blank display. So before you contact us for a repair, try these fixes:

Easy fix 1: restart your phone

Turn your phone off and take the battery out, wait a few seconds then put the battery in and turn your phone on. If your battery is not removable,  press the power button until the phone vibrates 3 times.

 

Easy fix 2: restore the factory settings

We recommend you back up your data first.  

Then go to Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Factory settings or Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone mgmt. > Factory settings. For more on this, see your phone’s user guide.

 

Easy fix 3: update your phone’s software

You might not be using the most recent software for your phone. If you need to update, it takes about 15 minutes – back up your data and contacts first so you don’t lose them.

 

Many Nokia phones can update automatically: select Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone Updates. If this option isn’t available on your phone or if you need more help, see how to update your phone software.

Problem with your PIN, PUK code or SIM card?

It's nearly always best to ask your network operator for help with PIN and PUK codes, since these protect the SIM card rather than your phone itself.

If your Nokia phone still needs repair, check if it is covered by warranty.

To find out if your device is covered by warranty, contact Nokia support or take your phone to a Nokia Care Point. We will ask you for:

  • Details of when and where you bought your phone
  • Your phone’s serial number

Examples of serial numbers include:

ESN: 12345678912 (11 digits)

IMEI: 123456789123456 (15 digits)

MEID HEX: 123A456B789C123 (14-15 characters)

EIGHT: 12345678 (8 characters)

BOOKLET: 1234567891234 (13 characters)

What if my phone is out of warranty?

If your Nokia phone is not covered by warranty, we may still be able to repair it, but we’ll usually ask you to pay the costs. Contact Nokia support or take your phone to a Nokia Care Point for more information.
