130W C-band pulsed power amplifier

In this paper we present the design and the measured results of 130W C-band SSPA used for ASCAT instrument (METOP satellite).
The SSPA provides more than 130W of output power with pulse duration from 5 to 12ms and duty cycle of up to 34% and electrical efficiency greater than 30%. The amplitude and phase distortion during the pulse is less than 0.2dB and 6°, respectively. The output RF spectral signal is quite good with very low thermal noise in the output band spectrum.
