Algorithm Suite for SDI MidCourse Weapons Allocation

We present a suite of weapons allocation algorithms available to a tactical MidCourse Battle Manager acting within a Strategic Defense system against a ballistic missile threat to the U.S. and its allies. Control of the suite is based upon a decision framework driven by inputs from a situation assessment module. Since the weapons allocation problem has been shown to be NP-Complete, the algorithm suite employs heuristics drawn from analytic methods, operations research, and artificial intelligence.
