The various installations and details of recent developments of styrenation technique are reviewed. New methods of making styrene joints, plugs and terminations, which, by simplifying and reducing costs, have enabled general use to be made of barrier action in cables, are described.

A new product composed of bonded styrenated paper is introduced which is likely to have widespread commercial application. Experimental data are given which show the marked superiority of this product with respect to power factor at h.t. as compared with phenol-formaldehyde resin-bonded paper. Still greater improvement is obtained by use of acetylated styrenated paper.
