Assessment of lighting systems for energy certification of buildings

In consequence of implementation of the EC directive on energy performance of buildings, process of energy certification is currently being started also in the V4 member countries. Installed lighting system is one of the building sub-systems laid under assessment. The methodology is, however, still at the beginning, with lot of imperfections, there is a big lack of practical experience. This paper aims to show the most important methodological shortcomings and possible ways of fixing them, to inform about possible ways and procedures how to practically prepare an energy certificate. The paper also brings to light some recent results in the field of the preparation of software tools as well as results of R&D focused to the estimation of energy saving potential in lighting as a compulsory part of the energy certificate.
