Asymmetric Optical Waveguide Y-Junction in InGaAsP/InP Photonic Integrated Circuits

We demonstrate an InGaAsP/InP asymmetric waveguide Y-junction monolithically integrated with an optical amplifier section by MOCVD growths. Theoretical analyses and measurements show that the Y-junction has a polarization-independent power dividing ratio, low power loss (1 dB), and negligible refection (-63 dB).
