The thermal dependence coefficient of ionic displacement in ZnO between 20 and 900K is 0.263(8)x10 sup (-4) A K sup (-1). Evidence for thermal atomic vibration anharmonicity is present at 600K, increasing at 900K, but is not detectable at 20 and 300K. The thermal expansivity has been measured from 300 to 900K. The pyroelectric coefficients derived from a point charge model are +1.0, -10.7 and -11.4x10 sup (-6) C m sup (-2) K sup (-1) at 160,450 and 750K compared with experimental values of -6, -10.3 and -11.6x10 sup (-6) C m sup (-2) K sup (-1) respectively.
