AT&T Premises Messaging Products
01 January 1989
AT&T has fully integrated and compatible electronic messaging products for customer-owned equipment. These products are part of AT&T's unified messaging platform, and provide electronic mail (e-mail) connections to other AT&T premises-based messaging systems, the public AT&T Mail service, and messaging systems of other vendors. The AT&T Mail Access products (Access PLUS and Access III), and the AT&T Mail Private Message Exchange (PMX) products (PMX/PC, PMX/TERM, PMX/STARMail, PMX/X.400, and PMX/LITE), supply private messaging in UNIX(TM), MS-DOS, and Macintosh environments, supporting a variety of hardware and connection mechanisms. Mail Exchange provides connections to proprietary electronic mail environments supplied by International Business Machines (IBM), Digital Equipment Corp (DEC), Wang Laboratories (WANG) Hewlett-Packard Corp. (HP), and others. These customer promises products work well with the AT&T Mail service to connect several premises sites and extend traditional e-mail capabilities to include facsimile (FAX), telex, and paper delivery, as a sample customer solution demonstrates.
