Automatic Composition of Web Services in Colombo
01 January 2005
In this paper we present COLOMBO, a framework where web services are characterized in terms of (i) message exchanges, (ii) data flow, and (iii) effects on the real world. While all those aspects have been separately considered in the literature, COLOMBO is the first attempt to address all of them in a single coherent framework. Dealing with all these aspects together, in fact, is particularly challenging, especially with respect to the problem of automatic web service composition. In this paper, we introduce novel techniques to synthesize composite web services in this setting, under certain simplifying assumptions.
