Designers of telephone switching plants must adapt their equipment to meet the problems arising from human factors. Modern technology makes it increasingly possible to take into account the habits and wishes of telephone users. The versatility of telephone equipment has so increased that the designer must be fully informed about the behavior and reaction of people to be able to discriminate between economical and uneconomical system features from the standpoints of benefit and cost.
